Hiking Ios path: A wondrous trip along the island’s remote beaches

Our hiking path begins from the main town of Ios, Chora. Crossing a wild and dramatic landscape of hills and farmlands with clifftop views of the sea, the hiking path of Ios is the ideal way to discover the island’s less touristy side. From Ios Chora, we’ll walk downhill towards Mylopotas, a one-kilometer long sandy beach with crystal clear waters. During your hike, you’ll come across numerous small churches that dot the island while amazing views of the sea and the beaches will unfold before your eyes. From here, we’ll follow the hiking trail towards “Sapounochoma,” the first of the two remote beaches that we’ll discover.

 

After a refreshing dip to the blue waters of the unspoiled beach, we’ll continue our hiking trip to the east of the island passing by rock formations, old terraces, threshing floors and the beautiful coastline of Ios. Along the way, your destination angel will narrate stories of the island introducing you to inhabitants’ daily life habits. On our last stop at the remote sandy Klima beach, we’ll have some time to enjoy the refreshing waters of the Aegean Sea before starting our trip back to Mylopotas.
