About this experience
Highlights
- Uncover the secrets of Despotiko, an uninhabited, recently-discovered island off the coast of Antiparos
- Enjoy a birds-eye view of the excavated Temple of Apollo and observe recent restoration works
- Swim at a spectacular sandy beach, a true hidden gem accessible only by sea
Description
You could simply take our word for it. But unless you actually experience this stunning paradise for yourself, you won’t be able to imagine how such a tiny island could be so rich in history and archaeological wonder.
Allow your destination angel to bring alive this very special location with impressive inside tales about the importance of Despotiko and Apollo’s sacred sanctuary in ancient times.
During antiquity, Despotiko - lying right at the locus of the Aegean Sea’s most important trade shipping routes - ensured safe harbour in adverse weather conditions. Hiking on this storied islet, surrounded by a stunning Aegean seascape, offers an intimate discovery of its untamed natural beauty. Our easy walking trail passes by the newly-discovered Temple of Apollo and concludes at a rare Cycladic jewel: an exquisite sandy bay reached only by boat. We won’t reveal its name just yet. But we can tell you this.
Located at the centre of the island and blessed with silvery sands, the beach is considered one of the loveliest on both Paros and Antiparos. With its engaging mix of archeology and natural beauty, this immersive experience has been perfectly designed to fill you with lasting memories to take back home.
