Description
Here is an authentic adventure amid the wild beauty of southern Crete with its impressive mountain terrain framed by the Libyan Sea. Passing through magnificent remote villages and viewpoints we will arrive at the Imbros gorge – an easier alternative to the famous Samaria Gorge. Do you know the legend behind the name Imbros? Or how the gorge was used during World War II?
Your destination angel will reveal the riveting history of this ravishing region on a 3-hour trek through breath-taking scenery and awe-inspiring passages. We will have a short break in a taverna enjoying a drink and an impressive seascape, before driving to Sfakia.
Next we will embark on a private taxi boat for a short cruise on the Libyan Sea. Our destination is Glyka Nera (Sweet Waters) Bay for a swim in its dreamy shores. Shall we tell you why this lovely beach is called Glyka Nera? Because of the fresh water that gushes around the pebbles! We are headed now for the quaint fishing village of Loutro. There will be time for a short stroll and an authentic gastronomic experience at one of Loutro’s charming local tavernas.
Did you know that this area was the scene of many uprisings and rebellions? Let your destination angel enlighten you about its fiery past. After this experience, you will bid farewell to the magnificent Sfakia region and return to Chania with photographs to cherish and memories to last a lifetime. The relative easiness of Imbros gorge makes it an ideal walk for families with children.
